Central Asian Research Center for Ecology and Environment to be established in Uzbekistan
The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The document was signed by Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov and Professor Zhang Yuanming, Director General of the Institute.
According to the memorandum, the parties agreed to establish the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Tashkent Headquarter), which will be located at the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies – “Green University”.
The Center will serve as a platform for conducting scientific research, training specialists, exchanging technologies and expertise, and promoting the principles of green and sustainable development throughout the Central Asian region.
The memorandum outlines a wide range of areas for cooperation, including joint research and development, scientific conferences and workshops, publication of collaborative studies, laboratory modernization, implementation of applied environmental projects and the training of highly qualified specialists.
The signing of the memorandum marks a significant step toward deepening environmental cooperation between Uzbekistan and China and advancing joint efforts to address global climate challenges while strengthening regional partnerships.
